Measurement Guide

How to measure floor area from a floor plan

If you do not already know the floor area, a floor plan is often the easiest place to start. Operon Flooring includes a measurement assistant that lets you upload the plan, set scale and trace only the rooms where flooring will be installed.

1. Upload the plan

Use PDF, JPG or PNG and make sure the wall lines are readable enough to trace.

2. Set scale

Click two points on a known wall length, then enter the real distance in metres.

3. Trace the flooring rooms

Trace only the rooms where flooring will be installed. When you return near the first point, the room closes automatically.

Best Practice

Only include the areas that actually need flooring

Bathrooms, laundries, balconies, garages and excluded rooms should not be counted unless new flooring will be installed there. After tracing, review the saved rooms and include only the sections that belong in the flooring quote.

Quote Handoff

Send the measured area into the quote page

Once the selected total is ready, use the handoff button to carry that area back into the quote wizard. You can then continue with product choice, extras and final submission.

FAQ

Floor plan measurement questions

How do I measure floor area from a floor plan?

Upload the plan, set scale using a known wall length, trace the flooring rooms and send the measured total into the quote page.

Do I need exact measurements to start a quote?

No. An estimate is enough to start, and the floor plan tool helps create a clearer measured area first.

Should bathrooms and balconies be included?

Only include areas where new flooring will be installed. Wet areas and excluded spaces should stay out unless they are part of the scope.

Can I send the measured area straight into the quote tool?

Yes. The floor plan workflow is designed to pass the selected total back into the main quote page.
